Fat Kid Rules the World

A three hundred pound teenage boy is sitting in the subway station watching all the “perfect” skinny people as they go about their daily lives. He is contemplating which train to jump in front of to end his miserable, corpulent, insecure life, when the charismatic punk-rock-legend Curt MacCrae comes out of no where and stops him.

This scandal to get a meal for the homeless punk-rocker turns into a relationship that will change both of there lives. Curt befriends the fat kid and finds his name is Troy. He makes up some bull about starting a band so that he can hang out with Troy more. It’s a great deal because Troy’s dad, an ex military guy, wants to give Curt a break and help to set him on the right foot. This means that Curt gets free meals and on occasion is allowed to spend the night with Troy. Eventually Curt sees Troy’s potential to become a great musician and see threw life’s bull and they begin to practice for a real gig.

The predicament is that Troy cannot play the drums to save his life and is so insecure that he does not think that he ever will. Curt presses on setting up lessons with other illustrious drummers in town for him in exchange for playing in their gigs. Curt is a legend and brings in colossal amounts of people to the crowds, therefore every band in town wants him. As Troy goes to his first show he is realizes for the first time that he is not just a massive amount of flesh, but rather a unique person who has a place in this world.

As the story continues you see how the perfect fat kid who’s every thought is predicated on what it is like to wear a coat of blubber finds himself, and how the homeless Curt becomes a legend and fixes his many problems. The reading is at a Jr. High level, fast and easy. However its a quick read for those that want one and a exuberant time.
