Things Fall Apart

This novel, whose title comes from the poem "The Second Coming", by William Butler Yates, is a expeditious, short novel of great renown. The novel follows the author Chinua Achebe's ancestors, in the tribe of the Ibo people.

The Main Character, Okonkwo, is a great man in the tribe. He works very hard to get to a position of great wealth and fame. The novel follows Okonkwo as he journeys threw the years in the tribe. The European colonists come and destroy much of the Ibo people’s traditions and set up a government. They also try to force Christian beliefs on them.

The book shows in detail the traditions and ways of the Ibo people. It also brings about the struggle as two different cultures try to merge. The author really drags the reader in to the story. You can feel the life as an Ibo person. The sounds, the feelings, the fear, and all of this makes the novel grasp the reader and hurl them into the life in Nigeria. As the reader sees the tribe fall part it’s catastrophic. The Novel will bamboozle all who grace its pages and leave one thinking about how they fit in.
